- Enable Persistent Assistant in the Page Properties tab by selecting ‘Enable persistent assistant’ and ‘Start new inheritance’.
- The Persistent Assistant component will populate at the bottom of the page, right above the footer. Click into the Persistent Assistant dialog to begin configuring the component..
- Start new inheritance: Click ‘Start new inheritance’ to enable the feature for the page and all child pages.
- Box settings:
- 'Open Automatically’: When this is checked the Persistent Assistant box will animate open automatically. If not selected the box will stay docked to the bottom of the page until a user interacts with it.
- 'Animation timining in seconds': When you choose to open automatically you will need to select the second duration to which the box should open, 1s, 5s, 10s, 15s, or 30s
- Icon: choose from the icon list the image that best suites your primary CTA.
- Title: Add a title(maximum 24 characters) to tell the member what the action of the box is.
- Close tooltip: the tooltip text appears when you hover over the actionable content
- Content Settings:
- Text: Include a brief description inviting the user to initiate a chat session or action of main CTA. This text should be no longer than 80 characters and will be truncated if exceeded.
- Primary Button:
- Label: Set the text on the primary button.
- Action: Select the button action to go to a link, live chat (SFDC chat), Oracle Chat, a Phone Number, or a Modal. Refer to http://go/inkwell-authoring for more information about each of the options above.
- Tooltip: Enter the tooltip text that appears when the user hovers over the button.
- Secondary Links: Add up to 3 secondary links under the primary button.
- Label: Set the text on the secondary link.
- Action: Select the button action to go to a link, live chat (SFDC chat), Oracle Chat, a Phone Number, or a Modal. Refer to http://go/inkwell-authoring for more information about each of the options above.
- Tooltip: Enter the tooltip text that appears when the user hovers over the link.
Caveats
Since the Persistent Assistant is intended to highlight main CTA content authors must think carefully about the content within the component as it doesn't apply to all devices.
- When using Live Chat as a primary button: When Live Chat is selected as the primary button and no sales agents are available the Persistent Assistant will not appear on the page
- Viewing the Persistent Assistant on mobile: Only the primary button will appear within the Persistent Assistant on mobile. This is to reduce the amount of space take by the component on smaller devices.
Do's & Don'ts
It’s easy to overload a table with data. Specifically be aware of how many columns and how much content you put into a table to avoid overwhelming the layout and the user.
