Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is a digital content management solution (CMS) that helps LinkedIn curate content across the web.

LinkedIn branded their unique build and design of AEM and named it Inkwell*

AEM serves our off-stack business (LinkedIn.com is our on-stack product site)

AEM hosts web pages both for internal and external audiences.

  • Internal instance owned and managed by EPE (Enterprise Productivity Engineering)
  • External instance is owned by the Web Technology team

*Inkwell is product managed by the WebTech team within GPO. This team works in conjunction with the Enterprise Technology Engineering partners to build, update, test, train, and deploy platform related items for the Marketing organization

Website best practices

  • Do not MOVE or DELETE any pages that you do not own. Contact the owner or WebOps (InkwellAlerts@linkedin.com) for help.
    • *note: moving a page will activate said page and any content or pages associated with that page
  • Do not edit any Forms. Work with your Campaign Operations owner for assistance.
  • Publish pages to test for QA before activating
  • Test page optimization by viewing on your mobile
  • When only viewing a component hit Cancel instead of OK to ensure no changes were made
  • Link Settings
    • When linking to another page within Inkwell select Same Window / Tab
    • When linking to a page outside of Inkwell select New Window / New Tab
    • Use the content path via the path finder instead of the full URL if link lives inside the Inkwell platform
  • Think before you build
    • What is the purpose/goal?
    • What is the SEO/SEM strategy
    • Which region does my page serve

  • No upper case letter - please use all lowercase
  • Look to see if the asset you need is already in the DAM
