The basics of the LinkedIn logo

  • LinkedIn logo

The LinkedIn logo uses three colors: LinkedIn Blue, black, and white. Primarily the logo should be used on a white background for maximum impact and clarity. In cases where the 2-color logo or [in] is not appropriate, the following versions are available for use:

Clear space & sizing

  • LinkedIn logo clear space guidelines

The minimum clear space is defined as x, measured by the width of the vertical stroke of the letter ‘i’, or the space between the word ‘Linked’ and the [in]. The minimum clear space of 2x should always be applied. Try to maximize clear space whenever possible.

  • LinkedIn logo minimum size

The minimum size of our logo and [in] is 21px on screen, or 0.25in (6.35mm) in print, measured by the height of the [in]. In exceptional circumstances, smaller sizes for print may be necessary (e.g. on event merchandise). In such cases, legibility should always be your top priority – always ensure the ® and ™ symbols are clearly visible.

Background colors & photos

  • LinkedIn logo usage examples

Ideally the logo is to be used on a white background for maximum impact and clarity. When this is not possible, be sure to choose background colors or photos that provide sufficient contrast with the logo.

  1. Use the two-color logo on white or light-colored backgrounds or photos. The ‘in’ is to remain white.
  2. Use the two-color reverse logo on dark backgrounds or photos that provide sufficient contrast for all logo components. The ‘in’ is to remain white.
  3. Use the solid white logo on dark-colored backgrounds or photos. The ‘in’ should be transparent.
  4. Use the solid black logo on white or light colored backgrounds or photos, or in one-color print applications. The 'in' should be transparent.

Trademarks

The LinkedIn mark must be accompanied by the appropriate ® or ™ symbol. Trademark rights vary from country to country. Some countries have penalties for improper use of the registration symbol ®. Ensure the appropriate mark is used according to the rules below:

  • LinkedIn logo registered trademark example

Logo with ® symbol

Use this version for digital materials served on LinkedIn.com (e.g. product microsites, ads)

  • LinkedIn logo trademark example

Logo with ™ symbol

Use this version for print and digital materials not served on LinkedIn.com (e.g. emails, case studies, presentations)

Always ensure the logo appears with its ® or ™ trademark symbol unless:

  • The logo already appears once in the design, page, etc. with trademark displayed.
  • The logo is reduced to a size where the trademark symbol would no longer be visible or legible.

Best practices

Follow these guidelines when working with the LinkedIn logo.

Do: Use only approved logo assets

Don't recreate the logo. You can download everything you need here.

  • Use only the approved logo assets

Do: Provide clear space

Make sure the minimum clear space is applied to the logo and [in]. Maximize clear space wherever possible.

  • Make sure to leave clear space around the logo

Do: Make sure the ™ or ® is visible

Ensure that either the ™ or the ® is clearly legible at an adequate size next to the logo.

  • Make sure the trademark is legible

Do: contrast with the background

Make sure the logo reads clearly and has sufficient contrast with a background color or photo.

  • Do make sure the logo reads against the background

Don't: Add effects

Drop shadows, bevels, gradients, and strokes don't mix with the LinkedIn logo.

  • Don't add effects to the LinkedIn logo

Don't: Modify the logo

The LinkedIn logo should never be redrawn, distorted, rotated, or added to.

  • Don't modify the LinkedIn logo

Don't: Change the color

Our logo likes to stay LinkedIn blue, black, or white. Don't fill it with a pattern or a photo.

  • Don't change the color of the LinkedIn logo.

Don't: Change the radius

Our lovely [in] likes to keep it's corners gently rounded just as is. It should never be a circle, a square, a triangle, or a trapezoid.

  • Don't change the rounding on the corners of the LinkedIn logo
